MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS AT ASHTON

A meatlDg of householders iraa held at ABhton on Monday, for the purpose of eleottng a School Committee. ' ' A Oommlttee had been elooted on the 23rd of April last, bat a balLt not having been taken as rrquirod by the Act, the election wad deolarod by the Education Board to be null and void. Tberp were nine householders present, all of whom were nominated, and a ballot resulted m the following gentlemen being eleoted In the order named :— Messrs T. Taylor, J. Shearer, J. Orosian, R. Gilmoar, J. Asbton, J Oroy and W. Oroy. A meeting of the newly eleoted Committee was held, when MrT. Taylor was unanimously re-elected Chairman, After some Quryeftpondenoe from the Board had been read the maotet'e report was read. A fortnight's winter holidays were granted, the time to be "ranged by tho Ohnlrmaq and Miater. The Master uppHed for a supply of firing, and mentioned some small repairs m the aohool grounds requiring attention Mr James Oroy agreed to bring the coals an I attend to the repairs.
