A deputation of grocers waited on the Chamber of Commerce to-day to biing the resolutions passed at the recent meeting ußoinßt the Chinese under their notice. The Council of the Chamber has deoided before taking Motion to oommunicate with, other Chambers, Thomas Oollon, who was sentenced at Lyttelton Resident Magistrate's Court to sis months' imprisonment for the nonpayment of £96, arrears m support of his illegitimate ohild, was arrested here last night, and taken to the Terrace Qaol. The next Fire Brigade demonstration is to be held hero. It is expected that 400 firemen, will take part.
