He ia by profession a banker, being a member of tbe firm of Sir B<>muel Suott aad Co. Bis landed estate )■ aet down at 249,220 aorw, with a reotal of £72,663. The estates were disentailed by Bill in 1876, when £120,000 was aetigned to four sinters, and authority given, to borrow £1,000,000 on annnitiec. Lord Fife sat in the Liberal inter eat aa M.P. for Elgin and i>a ru from 187449, was Captain and Gold Stick of tbe i_orps of Gentlemen at-Arma 1880 85 He went on a special miftßion to the King of Saxuny in 18&2, and leoeived the uirst Order of Baxony.
