The Commission appointed da behalf of the French Navy to inquire into the fitness of New Caledonian coal for steam purposes, have reported against its use. They declare it would be imprudent for a ship with powerful machinery to rely on the coat for a longer journey than 24 hours without cleaning trfe furnaces.
