♦ (per fbbbs association.) Sydney. Jane 13. There is a, strong demand for sugar , the market being almost bare, excepting m Colonial Company's stocks. For Mauritius £36 has been got on actual Bales, China sugars have reolised £34. lhe problem of where to obtain sapplies for the next three months is an interesting one, and they will probably have to be drawn from American and European markets. The Queensland crops are backward, and it is net likely that crushing there will commence before tieptember. One firm has bought all the sugar m the market, and sold at £40 for best China whites. The ship Gatherer haß arrived from San Francisco with a cargo of 2100 tons of wheat. (Received Jane 14, 11 46 p.m.) London, Jans 13. The quantity of foreign wheat and flour afloat for British ports is 1,580,000 quarters ; for Continental ports 304,000 quarters. The American visible supply is 18,875,000 bushels. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message, dated London, Jane 12 ;— Frozen Meat— The mutton market is firm ; stocks are light. Canterbury and Wellington are s|d and s£d per lb respectably ; Canterbury lamb 6£d per lb. The beef market is unchanged.
