FIRE AT DONEDIN.

« r 1 (PEB PRBSa ASSOCIATION,) I Dunedin, Jaoe 13. A fire broke oat this evening ia High } < street, m the upstairs portion of the premiees of Rose, Wilson and 00, and Turnball and Co. The place was completely gutted. The fire caused great excitement, ac there was a performance by the childrea of the Convent school m the Theatre at the time, which was just opposite. There was some delay m getting the full pressure of water on, ani for Borne time it appeared as if the adjoining premises, occupied by R. Gi»mpbell and Bon, and nnder which was stored a large quant ty of kerosene, would also take fire Rose, Wilaoa and Oo'b stock w»s fortunately ia another store, and whut they had on the premises destroyed were principally samples. Q. Turnball nnl Uo's Btock was also very light. The building, which ifl owned by Mr G. Turnbull, was insured f 0r,'£1260 m the National \ office, one-thrd ro insured m the Norwich Union office. 'ihiu ssook was covered oy a floating policy ia the National, half reinsured m tae Norwich Dnija, Messrs Rose, Wilson and 00. had Insurance for £100 en their aamplea ia the Now Zealaai Office. Mr Lawless, who had an ofHoo m which was a considerable quantity of drapery, was insured for £200 m the South British. Minders and Jones had another offioa m the building, but their loss is confined to offioa furniture, books, eio. They are insured for £100 m the South British.
