DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET.

Mr Donald Stronaoh (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Oompany, Limited) reports for the week ended 22ad Inst, as follows : —

Wheat.— 'During the past week there bas been a slightly better demand for prime samples, and several sales have been effected, but none of any magnitude. Millers, to far, are the only operators, and still oontinne to purchase with eitrems oantion, and while prioes m Canterbury remain at their present level, holders ia this ma-ket are not likely to obtain an advance. Medium qaall'y, and not up to Northern oondltlon, is difficult to plaoe. Inferior and good whole fowls' wheat Is not over plentiful and has a fair demand, We quote prime milling Tusoan 4s ld to 4s 2d, red siraw and white velvet 3 j lOd to 4i, medium to good 3j 6d to 3s 9d, Inferior to medium 2s 9 i to 3i 4d (ax store). Oats.— -Theno baye continued ln good demand for Immediate requirements, both for shipment and looal use. Millers have been baying freely all ooming to hand for disposal fit for their purpose at slightly higher prioes. Snippers have also been purchasing all on offer to fill op spaoe engaged, but are not disposed to speculate at present rates. Stocks ,are not accumulating In store to any large extent, deliveries being muoh below the average of previous aoaeona. We quote prime milling 2s 8d to 2a Od, best short feed 2s 7&d to 2s Bd, medludi to good 2a 6£d to 2j 7j, inferior and medium Danish 2s 5d to 2« 6£d (ex store). Barley is jn fair demand m suitable parcels for shipment, but for local require* ments buyers do not show very ujuoh desire to operate, except when extra prime samples are offered. Values remain as last quoted — vis, for prlmo malting 3s 8d to 3d Od, medium 2 1 9d to 3 8 6d (ex store).
