"ONE OF THE POOR" REPLIES.
TO THE BDITOB. Sib, — Hitherto whenever I have attempted to go into print it has always been my misfortune to have to meet one of the " unco' quid." This time, however, it is only a Sunday night contributor. I hope that said contributor is not one of the selfish sort; that he does not drop In the smallest coin of the realm, or piok np his stiok and gloves and run out of the ohuroh before the minister has given the blessing. As regards working for the Good Templars I have stated my objects; j and have oaly to add that if the Good Templars did their duty according to their own laws there would soon b» no drink m this town. As they don't, lam not prepared to became one of them but remain One of thb Pook. Ashburton, May 20th. 1889.
