Threshing maohines are not now quite bo bußy. We regret to say that a very large portion o* the wheat is coming to hand m a bad condition, and there is considerable difficulty m effecting BeUlements of grain purohased. The very low freights to London has induoed several lines to be shipped home. Shippers are busy forwarding consignments to Sydney whew the market remains moderately firm, and will, doubtless, now remain so, for some- time, as the other Australian markets are beoominc bare- While Frisco is sending large sup. dies to Sydney we note that South Australia has been sending cargoes to Bio. It is to be regretted that New Zealand with direct steamers oanno{ command the Bio trade Some year« baok large shipments were made from this port, but we seem to be allowing the trade to be taken up by others. Oats have more business passing m the southern markets, and are consequently rather negleoted here for the time being. Barley has has had a fair shipping enquiry for prime. Grass seed end oooksfoot are dull and hard to be dealt with, Potatoes are offering frealy and Bales are reported at 60s at country stations, but the market is bow a'bit firmer, pairy produce is dull, very few orders are oomjng to hand. Quotations are as follows : Wheat— Prime Tuscan, 83 9d to 3s 10d: Pearl and Hunter's, 3d 6d to 3a 7d ; medium 8s 3d to 3a 4d ; broken ohiok, 2s 8d to 2s lOd. Oats— Milling, 2s lOd ; short feed, 2a 8d to 2s 9d ; long and inferior, 2s 5d to 2s Od Barley— Prime malting, 8s 9dto3alQdj medium, 83 3d to 8s Gi ; feed, 2s 6d to 3s 9d.
