(Pbß PkESS ASBOOIA'UON.) London, May 9. Madame Melba, the Australian cantatrice, has been offered a season's engagement at per month. It is reported Mr Pritchard Morgan, M.P. for Merthyr Tydvill, has been offered the post of [Solicitor-General to Queensland. Mr J. L. Toole. comedian, has made up his mind to visit the colonies. He will sail m February, and open at Easter under engagement to Williamson, Garner, and Musgrove. Sir James Fergusson, Political Secretary to ihe Foreign Office, m answer to a question m the House of Commons, said he hdpeci shortly to be m a posito review the whole series of the negotiations with China regarding emigration to the colonies. Former negotiations with China, on the emigration question, have been suspended pending the receipt of answers from the Colonial Governments to the despatches of the Imperial Government on the subject. It is, however, hoped communications with China will be resumed shortly. Pabis. May 9. . Madame Melba received an immense ovation on her first appearance m Paris and scored a pronounced success.
