HAMPSTEAD.

The annual meeting of householders for above district took place m the schoolhouse last evening, a very fair number of residents being present. Mr Mayo was voted to the chair and he opened the prooeedlngs by reading tbe annual report of the out-going Oommittee which was adopted. Mr Piokford thought members of Parliament should be supported In their endeavors to ' abolish the system of cumulative voting at Sohool Oommittee elections, and the Oommittee were to be complimented on the stand taken by them regarding the oonduot of parents and soholars In osrtaln oases. Mr Cunningham proposed, and Mr Sage seoonded, a resolution "That the teaching staff be thanked and congratulated on tbe very successful results of the past year," whioh was carried unanimously. Mr Pickford thought the annual treat to the children was a gluttonous affair and should take more of an educational turn, a public examination of the soholars being held so that parents could see the progress made by them. Several spoke on this matter and did not agree with the opinions expressed by Mi* Pickford. ' Mr T. Andrews proposed and Mr Crooks seconded a hearty vote of thanks to the outgoing oommittee for their servioes during the past year.— Carried. Mr Mayo returned thanks for the vote, and stated that the efficiency of the staff made the work of the Oommittee very lightNominations were then taken for Committee for coming year, Messrs J. 0. Bell and Mayne aoting as scrutineers, the result being as follows ;— 0. W. Baker, 37 votes ; F. Johnstone, 27 ; B. Meaolem, 22 ; Wm. Smith, 20; Andrftw Orr, 19 j P. Fawcett, 15 ; G. W, Andrews, 15 ; W. Monro, 10 ; W. Fleming Ot A vote of thanks to the Chairman conoluded tbe prooeedlngs. The new Committee then sat, and several members expressed regret at the absence of Mr F. T. Mayo who had declined election for this year, On the motion of Mr Johnston, seoonded by Mr Fawcett, Mr A. Orr was eleoted Chairman, and It was arranged for Mr J, 0, Bell to aot as Secretary. The Oommittee agreed to meet on the first Friday In the month as usual and then adjourned.
