TRUST FUNDS INVESTMENT

CONFERENCE OF AGENTSGENERAL.

(PER PBESB ASSOCIATION;)

London, April 11. In response to the invitation of Sir Graham Berry, the Agents-General met to-day at the office of the High Commissioner for the Dominion of Canada, to discuss the position of the colonies m relation to the Trust Funds Investment Bill now before Parliament.

Sir Graham Berry, at the suggestion of Sir F. Dillon Bel), advised that the Government should be asked if they would agree to the propositions on the subject contained m an, address agreed to by the Federal Council at its last sittings at Hobart respecting the investment of Trust Funds m Colonial securities.

Sir Saul Samuel, however, objected to this course, on the ground *that as New South Wales, the colony he represented, had not joined the* Federal Council, he was unable to recognise any of its acts m his official capacity. After some discussion, it was ultimately unanimously agreed that Sir Graham Berry should prepare a joint letter from the Agents-General to Lord Knutsford, reminding of him promises made by the Right Hon Mr Goschen on the subject, and asking the Secretary of State for tbe Colonies to deal with the question this session. j

Sir Charles Mill?, Age q.t- General for the Cape of Good Hope, urged that all the colonies should follow the example of the Cape Parliament m passing an address to her Majesty the Queen praying for legislation on the lines of colonial wishes.
