i London, April 6. An Australian wheat cargo has been 1 sold at 37s 3d. The present wool series closes on May 8:h. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cable message from their London office, under date sth April: — Wool — The sales gain firmness as they progress. Tallow has advanced is per cwt since last report. New Zealand Hemp— The market is lower. Medium is worth per ton. Frozen Meat — The mutton market has an upward tendency. Wellington and Canierbury is worth 4^d and 4^4d per lb, respectively. Beef, fore and hind quarters, is worth 3%d and 4|^d per lb, respectively. (Received April 8, 12 37 p.m.) London, April 7. At the auctions yesterday 675 caskß of tallow were offered and Bold as follows:—Medium mutton, 25s ; medium beef, 23s 6d. Money is declining owing to abundant supplies m the open market. Three months bills 2£ per cent. For Australian wheat, new crop, sellers ask 37s 6d. Forward business is weak. Arrivals of foreign wheat are small. Several cargoes are at ports of call, awaiting sale. At the wool auctions there is an indication of increasing strength. The advance is chiefly m fine greasy merinos. IJome and foreign buyers are competing with great spirit The amount catalogued to date is 58,000 bales, and there have been sold to the Home trade 56,800 bales.
