SOUTH RAKAIA LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
The quarterly meeting was held in the Library on Monday evening. Present: Measrs Pyke (Chairman), Makeig and The minutes of the last meeting having been coofirmed. The Chairman reported a credit balance at the Bank of £6 5b 6d< It was resolved that the Chairman be authorised to purohase aome new books, also that the Secretary should dispose of the waste papers to the best advantage. It was decided to get up a dance in aid of the Library funds on Friday, 17th May, and Messrs Oxley, Turner, Makeig and Liddy were appointed a sub-Com-mittee to carry out the same. Attention was called to the stealing of papers from the public room which still continues and it was resolved to offer a jreward of £2 to any person giving suoh information as would lead to the-convic-tion of any one stealing or mutilating the papers. After discussing other matters in connection with the Institution, the Chairman tendered his resignation as a member of the Committee, as he is leaving the district. The meeting then adjourned.
