New Plymouth, Maroh 15. On resuming the sittings of tbe Commlaalon to-day, Mr Samuel's croas-pxam-Inatlon by Mr Jellicoe was oontinued. He said be was surprised at first that Mr S andlab, Crown Prosecutor, should mak^ the charges, bnt when he found he bnd become Infatuated with hh clients, Joabna Jones and MoLauohlan, he ceased to be ■urprised. Mr Jellicoe'* cross-examination led up to trying to get Mr Ssmnol to admit tbat he was »ln favor of those who dealt out i'usllee, beiog removed from time to tlma. I.i Mr Samuel aald be did not wish for Mr Rawaon's removal for oharges of oor* rnptlon which had no foundation. Mr Samuel was then re examined by Sir Robert Stout on the history of William Humphries' bankruptcy and William Bayley 'a connection with It, after whioh his evidenoe closed. Mr Oorklll, Deputy Official Assignee m Bankruptcy, gave evidence m respect to Wallath's bankruptcy. He denied that he foroed Wallath to sign dopoattiona. He was preatnt when the affidavit waa drawn op at Wallath's request m Re w eon's room. No threats were uaed towards Wallath by Rawson or anyone else, nor did anyone urge blm to algn.
