Mutton, medium, 28s 6d; beef, medium, 2§s, At a publio sale of Australian woolled sheepskins there was an average attendance of b,om,e and foreign buyerg, and biddings were eager. The market is firm. Crossbreds, fine greasy, 6d ; inferior, faulty crossbredß, 5d ; merinos, medium greasy, 6d. The English wheat market is lifeless and the Continental inactive. The American market shows a general decline. For new crop Australian, on passage, sellers ask S9s; New Zealand, on passagt, average, 36s 6d. Forward business inactive. The arrivals of foreign wbeijt are small. There are no Australian oargooa off coast or at ports ofoall. The Antwerp wool sales commence on the 19th inst., and will comprise 11,600 bales, including 1100 Australian. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cable message from their London office, under date Bth March: — * New Zealand hemp— .Market quiet. Medium is worth £86 10s per ton. Tallow — Market weak. Qood, mutton and beef tallows are worth 25s 8d and 23.s 6d respectively. SYoeen moat— Market quiet. Canterbury 'mutton is worth 4Ad and Wellington B|d per lb. Beef— Fore and hind quarters are worth 4£d and 4sd per lb respectively. Butter—There is a good demand for New Zealand butter. Fine qualities are worth 120s per cwt,
