In conse* quence of the distress occasioned tiy the continued drought, it was intende4 to ask for power to relieve farmers by allowing the payment of rents on hold*ings to be deferred. In the House of Assembly this evening Sir Henry Parkes moved an amendment to the address m reply wbicb Government* have accepted as a Wink of confidence motion. J In the Legislative Council the Hon. Geo. Henry Cox has moved an amendment to the address m reply, denounce ing the action of the Government m the recent nominations to the Legislative Council. Both motions tre, under discussion this evening.
