We learn from the "Daily Telegraph" that the Premier delivered a political address at Napier on Wednesday even ing last, of which it is curious that the Press Association seems to have taken no notice. Glanoing over our contemporary's report we observe that the matter is much the Bame as that of his previous address at Hawera, save that he appears to have gone at considerable length into the question of the Property Tax, which, as at Auckland, be defended. The Napier people, however, like those of the Northern City were unconvinced by his eloquence, and at the close of the meeting the following amendment upon a simple vote of thanks was put and carried by a large majority: " That this meeting, whilst thanking the Hon. the Premier for his address, desires to record its strongest protest, against the Property Tax, believing ib to be opposed to the real interests and progress of the colony, and urges its repeal m favor of a Land Tax, exempting •U improvements, with a combined Income Tax, having a fair exemption,'*
