THE WOOL SALES.

Lomdon, February 19. At the wool auotions the American buyers secured 8000 bales of Australian shipment.

(Ueceived February 21, 12.16 p.m.) London, Fubrnary 20. The wool sales closed with great firmness ; 14,000 bales are heid over for the April sales ; 130,000 bales were sold for export, and 60,000 for the home trade.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated 19 th inst : —

Wool— Tho sales olosed firmly this day. Superior greasy, washed clothing, and short staple scoured merino and greasy merino lambs have advanced per lb since close of last sales ; superior scoured merino and fine greasy and washed crossbred have advanced 4d to Id per lb; and combining merino (washed) and fine scoured crossbred have advanced Id per lb since close of last sales- The market for coarse crossbred and crossbred lambs is unchanged, while medium and inferior greasy merino has declined nearly id per lb. The Bales comprise about 235,000 bales, of whioh 14,000 have been held for future disposal, 124,000 taken for the Continent, and 6000 for America.
