At the Anglican 9eneral Synod the business was ohlefly formal. A Commit cc was appointed to draft a Canon on the constitution of Cathedral Chapters ; also one for drafting a Bill making provliion for regulating the appointment and dismissal of ouratea of parochial dlatrlotu. A motion was oarrled that It is expedient to appoint a Commission, with power to sit dut lns the recess, to draft Canons for consideration of the triennial Synod.
At the evening Bitting a debate took place on the second reading of a Bill having for Its object the giving power for the removal of an incumbent of a parish who should, through age Infirmity, or other oao.Be, euoh not being an ecclesiastical offeiioe, become unfitted to perform bis duties as Insurobent The Bill was proposed by the Bishop of Wellington. The Biahop of Melanesia promised to support It if a provision la made by which a clergyman o»n appeal to the authority appointed under the Bill. The Rev Mr Fltchett and Arohdeaoon Llngard strongly opposed the BUI. Messrs Boardman and Upton sapported the Bill, as did most of the speaker*, inoludlng the Blabop of Walapu, who took part In the disoussion.
