FLEMINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

♦ 1.... The annual congregational meet.Dg of the Plemingten Presbyterian Churoh took place on Thursday evening. The Rev A. Blake oconpied the oh air, and there wore lome thirteen members present. The meeting having been opened m tbe usual way, the minutes of the last annual meeting were read by the Sjorotary, Mr Dunn. The Kirk Session report was given m by the Minted?, from which it appeirod that the attendance was good, that there was a membership over all of 73, *nd that »ll the operation? of the congregation were being oarrled on without Interruption. Attention was drawn to tho celebration of the Lord's Supper twice a year, and a hope' expressed tfcat the quarterly .observance rjsu.l m the Churoh would prevail m the district. The report w»s adopt cd. The Sabbath School reports were brought forward by the Superintendents from Fiemington, Aahton, Tinw*ld and Winslow. From these wo gather that there are 172 schoUrs and 17 teaohers, The Mission boxes had produced a <oal of £2 15a, and for other purposes £18 had been raised. Toe reports were adopted. The Treasurer's report was read by Mr Gilmour, who was glad to say the debit balanoe of the previous year was considerably reduced, and by the end of the year be believed it would disappear altogether. There had been raised at Fiemington by subscription and seat rents £101, by oolleotions £42, by tea meeting £32. There were also sums for Foreign Missions and other objeota. The report was adopted. A vote of thanks was carried to the Committee, and especially to the Treasurer and Secretary. Tbe following were chosen Managers for the ensuing year:—Meserj W. Anderson, J. Oroy, W. Dakers, J. Dunn (Seoretaiy), Geo. Gilmour (Treasurer), *V. Prebble and J. Shearer. Messrs J. Oroy and J. Danu were appointed Aoditors, and the next annual meeting was fixed for a date within the firet fortnight In January next. Arrangements were made for the tea meeting to be held early m April. On a motion brought forward by Mt J. Shearer, "That • Ohuroh Praise' be adopted m the Psalmody of the congregation," an interesting discussion ensued. It was ultimately egreed, on the amendment of Mr W. Anderson, "That the subjeot teoeive special consideration at another congregational meeting." Mr Shearer expressing his willingness to with* draw his motion Mr Anderson's amendment became the motion and vss oarried aoenimously. A vote of thanks was carried to Mr Dunn for his services on Sabbath and dorlog the week, and en the motion of Mr G. Gilmour It was agreed that the obtaining of an Instrument to assist In the leading of the Psalmody be considered at next meeting. The proceedings were then brought to a oloae with the Benediction.
