Ohristohuroh, January 9 The market was very large to-day despite the weather, whioh m the morning was anything bat pleasant. Fat Cattle.— There was a large entry of beef of ordinary quality, but it met with an unwilling market. Sales were few and prioea hardly up to last week's quotations. Prime ox .beef was sold at from 16a to 17s per lOOlbs and inferior would not sell at all. Stobb CattiiE were nbt numerous. Prices were slightly better than last week especially for young stook. Yearlings, 29s to 355; two. year-olds, 45s to 49s Dairy Cattle were m goodjdemand at previous rates. Fat Sheep,— There was a very full entry of sheep, about 12,000 being yarded of whioh three-fourtbs were fat. There waß nothing of special quality, ewe mutton being evidently well represented. Prime orossbred wether mutton, ljd per lb ; ewe and merino, about l£d. There was a decline all round of 9d per head. Stobb Shebp. — About 3000 store sheep were yarded, but the sale was bo late that many buyers left, and the majority of the lots were Baorifioed, merino, mixed, Belling as low as 2s. The best prioe for orosßbreds was 4s. Fat Lambs.— There was a very large entry of good quality lambs, principally crossbred whioh met with a brisk trade and prices were firm at former quotations. Good quality went as high as 9a 3d. Pigs and Calves— There waß the smallest entry of pigs that has been seen for some time. The sale of calves was good. Vealers extra quality, fetohed prioes up to 23a and 245, Poor oalves were anil of sale.
