C EVICTION OP M.P.'S. i (PBR PRESS ASBOOUTION.) London. January 1 to 3. Mr J. Sheehan, Irish M.P., has been cenviefced of conspiracy. Sentence is suspended owing to the ill health of the accused. Mr J. Finucarie, M.P. for Limerick East, was sentenced to four months' imprisonment for conspiracy. Notice of appeal was given. Desperate resistance was offered to evictions on < 'gshert's estate, Donegal. Two hundred police and soldiers were engaged, and the latter were about to fire when a priest persuaded the people to surrender. Mr Gladstone, m an ' article m the " Nineteenth Century, says O'Connell was the greatest popular leader of the* century and greatest irishman who ever lived. " He was superior to such National leaders at Koßsuth, Mazzini and Cavour. The English hatred to Ireland was inherited, and was indicative of the feelings of wrong-doers to the wronged
