A Greek who left Khartoum two months ago says nothing had then been heard of the alleged capture of Emm Bey by the Mahdi's forces. (Received January 2, 1230 p.m.) Suakim, January 1. Sir F. W. Grenfell has entered Handoub and has published a proclamation announcing the defeat of Osman Digna. Many tribes have assured the general of their loyalty to the British.
