FLEMINGTON GOSPEL TEMPERANCE SOCIETY.

Tbe closing meeting of the Flemington Gospel Temperance Society and Band of Hope was held en Fcidey evening last In the ooboolhouae. The ohairman, the Rev A. Blake opened the meeting, and gave an address on Ibe discovery and properties of alcohol. A varied and interesting programme waa then gone through. There was a large attendance, considerable over a hundred, several of the desks aa well as the forms being brought itto requisition as seats Mrs Dunn gave a very appropriate song " Tbe Bonny Bit of Blue," and some amusing readings were given by Mr R. Gilinour. Me Dakeru and Mr Dunn sing veiy pitiaaingly, the latter ushering m the refreshments by a song highly ormmondatory of tea. An interval enßued during whioh an abundant supply of good things waa handed rouad, and the programme was resumed. Mr Harding give an exoellent reading conveying go id ODunsel to young people intending marriage. Mrs John Oaborne gave a pathetic reading illustrative of the evils of drink, and Mr John Oaborne delighted tbe audience with a song. Tbe Chairman Rave a humorous Scotch reading, ''The Blue Ribbon Re-? ornlt," which caused some hearty laughter, and Mr James Osborne gave an exoellent song. As ten o'clock had now arrived, It waa deemed d> aireble to bring the meet- ) ing to a close, all having apparently enjoyed themselves very much. Mr Watkina I moved a vote of thanks to the Rev Mr Blake and those who had co operated with him to make the meetings during tbe year a success, which waß duly responded to, and ere the party broke up, the Ssoretary, Mr James Osborne, waa busily engaged receiving additions to the membership to I the number of nine.
