Pakis, December 17, ' The rejection of the Bill providing for assistance to the Panama Canal has caused a great sensation m the city, and the tone of the Boulangist Press is very angry. The Ministry are now consulting Messrs Kothachild m the matter. The Boulangist journals violently assail tbe Chamber of Deputies for abandoning a million citizens to ruin by rejecting- the Panama Bill. The excitement m the city is becoming hysterical. It is doubted if tbe 92 000,000 francu deposited will be sufficient to meet the lottery priaes. A general meeting of the Panama Canal Company is being convened. In consequence of the action of the Chamber of Deputies political trouble is feared. London, D«cember 17. The " Times," m referring to the collapse of the Panama scheme, considers it Boulanger's chance of pushing reactionary measures.
