About noon Professor Brown left the oimp for a stroll up the gorge, bat rain I ooming on the party became anxloaa, and searched for him until evening, but withont eaooesi. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were terrible days, with rain, hall and wind. Viessrß White and Goring made every effort to trace their companion, bat without Bacoeßß. Provisions being exhausted, they left the (Damp on Monday, and returned to the Lake, terrible weather being experienced. A party of foor, Including Ernest Mitchell, who assisted m | cutting the overland trnck to the Sother- { I land Falls, are now out searching. There was a depot of provisions over the Saddle, and another at the head of the Lake, and it Is possible the Professor may have got to. one of these, and found himself unaole to. return. Thongh an enthusiastic busbman, j he is not an experienced one. He has been about the Lake before, and he also made an overland trip from Wanaka to the West Ooatt with Mr Larnach when the latter was Minister of Mines.
