Captain Greenstrret bandied his ship remarkably veil, and had her stopped and backed upon the scene in a very B^ort space of time. Mies Duckworth received a very severe shock, but by careful nursing she is muoh improved. Two d ya after this unfortunate Incident when tho vessel was In « heavy gale with cross sea, an A.B, named W, Brooks was washed overboard and drowned. A heavy SB. swell was encountered from November 10th to November 23rd. On November 27th, a saloon passenger, Mr Alexander Forrest, aooountant at the Rational Bank, Danedin, died of apoplexy, and was burled At sea. These accidents marred the enjoyment of the voyage considerably. Toe passengers and offioars subscribed £25 for Oavill as an acknowledgement of bis pluck in reioulng Mfsa Duckworth, and £55 for the mother of the seaman Brooke, she being dependent upon him for support.
