THE APPOINTMENT OF GOVERNORS
[fsr fbkss association.] Brisbane. November 27. It is rumored here that Sir Hercules Robinson will be appointed Gorernor of Queensland. ' London. November 26 and 27. The " Times " hopeß the Buccess of Sir H. Blake m Newfoundland will disarm the opposition of the Queensland Gorernment. It is confident a judicious delay will tend toward promoting an amicable settlement. It characterises Sir T. Mcllwraith's reasons as- m. coherent, and Sir H. Parkes' as unintelligible, but says it is plain theywould reduce the union between England and the colonies to a merely complimentary connection. The "Standard" states that the Cabinet has decided not to insist, upon Sir H. A. Blake's appointment to the Governorship of Queensland, and that the post has been offered to a gentleman holding a high position, but who has had no previous colonial experience.
