PERJURY CASE.
* (raa rases association.) Nbw Plymouth, November 27. Tnare was a ourious oase, at tho R.M. Court this morning, arising ont of a civil oase hewrd m the District Court the other day, when plaintiff, McLaughlin, ■ought to recover £11 for breach of covenant of leaie from Martin Petrie. Judgment was given for defendant. Mo Laughlln now charges Martin Petrie and his mother, Jessie Petrie, with corrupt Ser jury, and on the other side Albert id ward Nellson, witness for plaintiff, and James McLaughlin, plaintiff, are also obarged witb perjury tn the evidence they gave* It seems that McLaughlin subpoenaed the District Judge, who Is bolding a Conrt at Wanganui to-day. Tbe Jndge left a letter saying he oonld not wait fn New Plymouth as he had witnesses, jurymen, eto,, waiting at WanSinal. and tbe Court therefore, could not c adjourned. Moreover, be thought his •ttendanoe to give evidence was not necessary, as the Olerk of the Ooott oould give all information required, as all evidence was taken down m the esse of MoLaugblsn. The Justices on the Bench adjourned tbe esse till Monday, to enable the Distriot Judge, Bawson, to be m at* A .l
