He holds fjur certificates of effiolenoy at eliminations under the Board of Tbeologlo»l Studies at Obrletohuroh. Id 1879 he was a first class certificate In the First Grade. Next year he took up nine out of ten snVjeota In Qrade 11.. passing very satisfactorily. In 1881 (September 23r<3) he passed Grade 111., and on the following Sunday (September 25tb) be was admitted to deacon's orders, •nd became assistant curate to the Rev W. Harper, In the parish of Leeaton and Bouthbrldge, In 1883, Mr Bean crowned his pr«7lous saccetsful examinations m Theologloal Studies by obtaining a secondclass a certificate In Grade IV , with the large hnmber of 4874 marks out of a possible 6600. This entitles him to waar the hood granted by authority of the Board of Theolog!o»l Studies, and saoc iloned by the Primate. On Scptom fcer 23td, 1883, the Rev Walter Stanley Bean, then assistant curate of Bt Miobafll's, Ghrlsfohurob, was admitted to the priesthood by the Moat Rev the Primate, at the Cathedral. The candidate was presented by the Tery Rev the P«san, who, together with the Rev Walter Harper and the Rer W. H. Elton, took part with the Bishop m the laying on of hands.
