THE DROUGHT IN NEW SOUTH WALES
(PBR PSKSB ASSOCIATION.) Sydney. November 14, All the western districts are suffering terribly from drought, and bush fires are raging m every direction. The Goulbourn district is threatened with water famine. Bush fires m the neighborhood of Dubbo and Gilgandra have assumed immense proportions. The country is swept by flames for miles. Coupled with the drought the fires are causiug great distress and consternation throughout the country. The property of farmers and squatters m almost all the inland districts is burnt up, whilst a water famine already prevails m some districts and is threatened m other parts of the interior. Thousands of sheep and cattle are dying, and stock routes m various directions are absolutely strewn with decaying carcases of sheep which are being " travelled " m search of feed. In many districts owners are glad to give away portions of their flocks, m the hope of preserving a little feed for the remainder. Unless rain falls very soon general and widespread disaster must overtake the colony. Some of the more remote suburbs of Sydney are participating m the water famine.
