The eleventh annual Show of stock and implements, cnder the aQspices of the Aohbartou Agricultural and Pastoral Aesooiar tlon was held at the grounds of th 6 Oanaly Saleyards Company yesterday. The weather wan dull bat there w«b a very good attendance of the public. The Ashtmrton Band was on the ground and at Intervals during the day pluyed neleotlons of , masla- Mr« Batter and Mr Kelly had the Pablioinß* booths and Mr 0. D<*v-!s supplied light refreshments. The Bbow was perhaps the most ouccetfal ever held m Ashburton. The total number of entries wj»b largely m excaas of that of any former years, aud taken all round, the quality of the exhibits was firit olass. Thd following table showing the number of entries m eaoh eeotlon for ■everal years past will probebly be of Interest, as it will enable a comparison to be made of the number entered In eaoh* okas this year as agaitsb those for previous shows :—

The most notioeable feature of this year's entries was the large increase that had taken place m horses, the number entered being 381, male up as follows : — Draught 75, blood 7, carriage 37, hunters 5, hiokneya 41, ponies 12. Sheep, though an increase on last year, show a falling off, when an average for all the shows ia taken. Cattle show a great falling off, but pigs, implements, and dairy produce are Increased and swell tbe total The amount of money taken at the gates was £109 lls 6d, being £16 mvrs> than was received from the same source last year.
