Thomaß ('ate of Mataon Cox and Co.) reports upon the live pt"ck market i for the Ashbarton district for the week ending Oatober 23rd as follows : — On Tueß ay, at the Ti'iwald Yard ■, I held my usual sale of sheep, pigs, and o-ittia. The ( total entry for the day eomp.-is^d 1497 sheep, 1 pig and 80 head of cattle, of whlo^ 18-)ld 1343 Bheep, 1 pig and 49 hiad of Oittle. The attendarce tvai fairly good and competition for g <n«i Hn^s of hoggets and ewea end lambs very brisk, I topped the market with a very well grtzad line of first cross hoggets sent down by Mr John Doyle, which reflects great oredit on him for the manner ia which they were brought to the market. The following are the prices realiz-d. For good fitst OFOBS hoggets, 13j 9J ; oecond draft, j lla lid ; thi d drift, 10j 2d ; medium hoggets, 9a Id ; urn. nil hoggets, 7s ; croßsbred ewes with 100 per cent lam ha, 13a 6d ; do with fow hoggets 11* lid ; merino ewen 'o lumb, 6a to 6a 9i j 1 aow m pig, £2 10a. In cattle: fat haters, £5 7a 6d, £5 2* 61 ; sprlngftrp, £5 sj, £3 10a. £3 sa; old oows, £3, £1 10j, £2 le, 18j 6J ; two-year old ateera, £3 5a
