SIR M. MACKENZIE'S BOOK.
(per press as ociation) London, Oo^ober 16 Relations between Queen Victoria and Sir M. Mackenzie are strained m consequence of the action of the Fnglish medical journals m publishing facsimiles of portions of the Emperor Frederick's diary whilst defending Sir Morell against the attacks made on him by the German doctors. These portions of the diary the Queen had ordered to be erased, and their publication caused her Majesty great annoyance. Sir M. Mackenzie protests h s innocence m the matter, and has assured her Majesty that he m no way authorised the publication of these portions of the diary. Her Majesty fears that this incident will further annoy the Germans, and cause friction between the two countries.
frir Morell Mackenzie is threatened with libel actions for calling the papers who published parts of his book prematurely thieves and robbers.
Forty thousand copies of the work have been seized at Leipsic.
