(FIB PEKB3 ASSOCIATION .) Auckland, October 17. The Mararoa'a arrival affords additional particulars of the disastrous gale which ohe encountered on Octobpr Bth. A. heavy ■oatherly gile was blowing, with a high confused tea. At 3.30 p.m. a huge sea ■uddenly struck the venel, and the passengers on the 'hurricane deok were hurled m all directions. Mrs Henderson, who was drowned, had been sea sick all the passage, and cod fined to her cabin nntil the morning of October Bth, when ■he went on deck with her children. One of the children was drowned with her, and the others had a narrow esospe. Two passengers, Leonard White and Stanley Herbert hid etch a leg broken, and a sailor named Jones also sustained a fracture of the leg. Mrs Hedley, sister of Mrs Henderson, was by her side and witnessed the sad occurrence. Mrs Hed* ley's child was torn from her arms by the violence of the water, and was washed •cross the deck from rail to rail several times before being rescnod. The disappearance of Mrs Henderson and her child was not notioed for some mlnuteß after the occurrence, when all that coald be ie»n was a shawl or blanket m the water. Dr Smiley, a passenger, attended to the irjjnred. The Mararot suffered no damage, and on her arrival the people were taken to the Hospital.
