SOUTH RAKAIA SPORTS.

On Tuesday evening a meeting was held m the Library to consider the ad visa > bility of holding Bports on Boxing day m the Domain, There was a large attendanoe and Mr Hardy was voted to the chair The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £47 10 10d.
It was decided to hold the sports consisting of horee races and a large number of athletic events. Mr W. Lyttelton was eleoted President; Messrs Coster, Allan, Upton and Holmea, vice- Presidents ; Judge, Mr Ooster ; Btarter, Mr Upton ; Clerk of course, Mr Primmer ; Olerk of aoalen, Mr Makeig 5 Judges of athleticß, Messrs Hughes, Bruoo, and Allan ; Starter athletics, Messrs Hardy and Dowling ; Treasurer, Mr Pyke ; and Secretary, Mr Oxley, all ex-officio members Committee ; Committee, Meßsra, Brown, Dlxon Howell, D. Street, Secretan, Mulligan, J. Jackson, Moreland, Magaon, H. Ems-isod! P. Doig, W. Hood, B. Alexander, Helmore, Bußaell, H. Stringfellow, E Hampton, J Pearce, McLean, J. Dent, t* Miller, Kemp, Rountree, Wilkinson an.d Ohilds. It was arranaed to get out •mbsoription lists, to hold a. dance m the Town Hall m the evening, and th« Seoretary was instrocted to make arrangements for a band. In horse racing there will be a Hurdle race, Farmers Plate, Ladiea Purse. FlyiDg Stakes and a Hurry Sourry. Horses entered must belong to the same district as defined last year which will be advertised shortly. The prizes are good both for the a.bove events and for the athletic events, and from the interest shown, given a fiae day, the sports promleo to be as great a success as ever. It was a reoommendati >n to the Committee to arrange for entries for athletic events to cloae on the same dato as acceptances for horse races.
