Sydney, October 7. Arrived — Wakatipu, this morning, from Wellington, after a stormy passage. On Monday night she experienced a tarrific gale, which lasted the greater part of the voyage. The wheelhouse and promenade deck were partly destroyed. A heavy sea broke through the cabin deckhouse and flooded the saloon, and other minor damage was done. Sydney, October 6 The Commission appointed to enquire into the working of the tramways finds that extensive frauds had been perpetrated, but profess themselves un~able to ascertain to what extent the revenue has suffered. Six conductors have been dismissed m consequence of this report.
The carpenters m the city have struck for increased pay. It is believed the strike will involve about 3000 men.
