THE EMPERORS DIARY.
ARREST OF THE COMPILER. [PBR FP.ESS ASSOCIATION.] Berlin, September 28. The Minister of Justice has given an order for the prosecution of the publisher of the diary, the Emperor having consented to this step being taken. It is supposed that Professor Giffeten, of Hamburg, is the compiler of the diary. Berlin, October 1. Professor Giffeten has been arrested. London, October 1. Several of the morning papers have articles on the publication of the late Emperor's diary. Prince Bismarck's assertions m connection with the subject are stigmatised as flimsy, and calculated to bring ridicule upon himself. It is claimed that tbe whole course of events m Germany during the past quarter of a century fully bear out the genuineness ol those portions of the diary already published.
