Further details of the Samoan civil war show that both parties were well armed with needle guns and Sniders and that each man was equipped with from 300 to 400 rounds of ammunition. The adherents of Malietoa to the number of 5000 campfed at Upolu after the attack on ihe Government soldiers on the night of the 12th, and on the 14th Matafa, king elect, was appiinted under the title of Malietoa 11. A strong feeling prevails that Germany will eventually annex Samoa, unless America s:eps m and offers protection to the country.
