GRAIN SALE AT STUDHOLME JUNCTION

The Watmate correspondent of the " Lyttelton Times " telegraphs that a big grain sale at Studholme Janotlon on Monday attraoted buyers from North and South, and the attendance was therefore large. The news by wire of the depression of the English market had the cffoot of making buyers dautlous, and bidding was not of the briskest oharaoter. The sale was oondacted by the Loan ani Mercantile Company nnder instructions from Mr F. M. Rickman, of Waimate. Oats moved much more briskly than wheat, 3500 sacks finding purchase™ at an average of Is lid on trucks at Studholme. One thousand Backs of milling oats weat to Messrs Vrlpdtander Bros., Aehburton, at 2i . 1300 sacks feed oats went to Mr Fleming Danedln, at la 10£ d ; while other lines of Dan, Danish and Tartarian brought the same figure, the prlno'pal lines going; to Tlmaru and Dunedln, In wheat 1000 sacks Velvet Ohafi went to the TJmaru Milling Company at the top price, 3i 5i ; 2000 sacks of red wheat went to Messrs Hog, Howlson and Niool, Danedln, at 3i 3d ; 400 Backs Velvet Chaff to Tlmaru at 33 4d. Two thousand saoks of wheat were withdrawn at 8a sd. A good deal of grain was, however, sold at a sitlsfaotory price privately.
