London, September 21. Letters received from the Congo predicted the murder of Major Bartellot The latter is alleged to have treated the men under him m an overbearing manner. Although there was no, necessity to apprehend a shortness of supplies the Major placed the party on starvation allowance! while the officers were abundantly provided with food, even to waste. At the time the letter was despatched the murder was expected daily. Major Bartellot is also accused of. cruelty to the men, whom he ill-used on the slightest provocation.
