DAIRY FACTORIES.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, September 19. Mr McOallam has finished his report on Dairy Factories la tho North Inlaid. He states that their condition Is by do meana bo satisfactory aa ii desirable. Amongst the causeß of financial failure are the insufficiency of the capital at the commencement of the enterprise, anneceaeary expenditure on buildings and want of management. The principal drawbacks to the perfect working of the?e establishments are the irregularity of milk supplies — many cf the BuppHera preferring to make batter on their own aooouat as the season adva&cas and prices rise — and the insufficient attention glvea by dairy men to cleanliness of utensils and milking Bheds. He favors working these factories on the co-operative principle. Mr MoOallam recommends the Gove.noient to redaoe the railway rates on this claas of produce, and to have specially constructed trucks for Its conveyance to the ports.
