THE CHINESE QUESTION.
♦ [Pan Press Association.] Melbourne, September 12. The Government have decided to appeal from the decision of the Supreme Court ia the case of, Chun Leong Loy against the Collector of Customs. In the Legislative Assembly, Sir Bryan O'Loughlen supported the action taken by the Government m preventing the influx of Chinese, and said if the Judges' decision was correct the whole system of Australian Government had broken done. The Hon. C, Pearson, Minister for Public Instruction, m reply to adverse criticism, said the action of tb,e G-overnment was really contending for the national existence of the colonies. The object the Government had m view was to preyent the country from being flooded by convicts and aliens.
