CROFTER EMIGRATION TO NEW ZEALAND

Mr W. L. Rees is organising a scheme of crofter immigration to New Zealand. He proposes to establish five colonies including m all eight thousand souls m different parts of the Cook country on the east coast of the North Island. The requisite capital is estimated at half a million, of which the public will be asked to subscribe :£i 50,000 and the Maoris ,£50,000. Government will be asked to find the balance, or it will be raised by means of debentures. Mr Rees has requested the Agents-General to support the scheme for arranging a meeting of New Zealand colonists m London to consider his proposal.

Wi Pere guarantees two million acres of land m the North Island of New Zealand which can be obtained for colonisation purposes if the scheme propounded by Mr Rees meets with success.
