Faller, from the goldfields to-day, reports that a very rich reef has been found by Annear and Hill at the top of the right hand branch. Lumps of gold are visible. A great rush and excitement have been oauaed, and a large number of olalms have been pegged oat " Inveroargill, September 7. The Chamber of Commerce to-day considered the question of placing a lighthouse on the Auckland Islands, but adjourned tbe matter to a special meeting a tortnight hence. Mr Brodrlck, Lloyd's agent, contended that the Snares was the proper place for scch a light, as to put one on tbe Auoklands would only be a temptation to shipmasters to go seeking it to verify their position and run into danger. The unemployed coal steamers are entering the New Zealand trade. Ono arrived from Melbourne to-day, and tbe Lindus, chartered by the N.Z. L. and M. A. Co., cornea over next week.
