Public Abbatoiri.
At a special meeting of the City Counoll last night to consider the abbatoirs nuisance, a motion to close the city abbatoirs forthwith was lost and it was agreed that a special committee be appointed to consider the best means to secure the disposal of refaae and to thoroughly abate the nuisanoe complained of, and In tbe event of the Committee finding that the refuse cannot be dealt with, or Impracticable on acoount of cost, the Counoll will then undertake to close the abbatoirß:

Wellington. September 7. A fireman, named Riley, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for assaulting Capt Barlow, of the steamer Tainni. Ministerial Increments.
