An Inquest was held this morning on the body ofTerenoe Gormby, found m the harbor yesterday. A verdlot of fonnd drowned whb returned. A woman named Lane gave evidence to the effect that on Monday, about seven m the evening she saw a man fall over the embankment at the baok of the Opera House, but could not say whether he fell into the water; She was too terrified to give the alarm. The Coroner severely oensured the woman for her oondnot. I A preliminary enquiry was held to-dsy Into the wreok of the schooner Colonist last week. The evidence of Jas. Burn, the only survivor, was takeD, but no fresh particulars were adduced. Inveroabqill, September 5. At Gore to-day, Alex. McKoDzle and John MoPhail were brought up on an information charging them with setting fire to the store of Craig, McKenzle and Co., of which firm they were partners at, Pukerau In February last. Inspector Moore withdrew the Information and the accused were oommitted for trial at the Supreme Court on the finding of a ooroner's jjary, which was to the effect that the accused fired the premises. The prooeedlngß arose out of reorlminatlon between the partners at meetings m bankruptcy, McPhail and Craig both stating ' that MoKensle suggested fire as the simplest way of solving their financial trouble, the foimer also averring that MoKeuzle offered him consideration to fire the store. MoPhail said that he refused to entertain the proposal, but at the inqueßt the jury were of opinion that he had a hand m the alleged crime
