Sir, — Do me the favor and justice to insert this letter and the following o rreapondence In your paper as it is the outcome of a report of toe A.Bhburton Forks School Committee meeting whioh appeared >n tbe "CJuardian" and "Mail" of the 7th and 9;h of August last. No further exp'anrttou Is necessary from me as the lettbrs speak for themselves. • I may say, however, that I knew nothing of the mattt r m qiesdon till I saw the above report, nor was any oomplalnt made to tha post office either here or m Christohoroh on the subject. Tbe Chairman, for reasons best known to himself, ban not thought fit to rectify tbe false impression contained by that report up to the pruaem, ihongh he was iuformed by the Secretary to the Education Board, to whom ho nmde a special visit at Ohrtstoharch on the subject nearly a month ago, how the letter came to be reopened at the office by him.— l am. Memo from the Chief Postmaster, To Postmaster 1 Ashburtun Forks, £ Last night I received your latter of 27th £ mat. roqat-sting an Inquiry as to a report of the Ashburton Forks School Committee published m tbe " Ashburton M ill " of < 9ih inst. m which the Chairman of the\ g School Committee is reported to have said that ho had received a letter from t the Board of Eduoatlon whioh he had declined to open, as he considered it had g been tampered with. The Secretary of the Board of Education informs me that the above letter was reopened In the office of tha Board of Education, and again closed, before being posted, and its appearance was due to this oanse.
