The manager of the Auokland Roller Mills advises that flour has advanoed Id prloe by £1 pee ton all round. During the present season there bae been more grain and general prodnoe brought down the Walkato line than during any prevloub season. It is estimated that the total quantity oarrled by call will be about double tbe record for the previous Beaton, this must be regarded as a moat hopeful sign. It also appears that the Auokland railways oarrled £2300 more and spent £2500 less than during the previous years. The Inorease In the produce of the oountry districts Is attributed indirectly to depressed times, and this is borne out by the faot that while the quantity of prodnoe oarrled has lnoreased so muoh the passenger traffic has actually decreased during the came period. It Is presumed ! that settlers are now boldly faolng tha altered oondltlon of affairs, and that unnecessary expenditure In building, travelling, eto, has been out down, and their whole energies put into the soil. The lnoreased aotlrity of the Waiicato farmers Is doe Id some measure to the growing demand for A their wheat among loot! (Bllleti,! *
